Spotlight Series is Live! Blues Guitar and Guitar Set-Up
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Legacy News on November 24th, 2009
I am super excited to announce that our Learn and Master Spotlight Series courses launched just now!
That is right…courses.? Not just the Blues Guitar course but also a Guitar Set-up Spotlight.
The Blues Guitar Spotlight is taught by our very own Steve Krenz, the instructor for Learn and Master Guitar and the Guitar Set-Up Spotlight is taught by world-renowned guitar guitar tech, Greg Voros of Gruhn Guitars.
We worked feverishly to get the site up before Thanksgiving and we are currently taking pre-orders now.? We expect the first shipment to arrive no later than December 10…likely considerably before then.
We have Blues Guitar banners ready as well as product shots.? Some of them are below.? You can also access them in your account.? We are working on the Guitar Set-Up banners as I type this…well not literally since I am designing them, but you know what I mean haha!? Here you go…more to come!

Black Friday and Cyber Monday Coupons and Deals on ShareASale
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Coupons and Deals on November 19th, 2009
We have some awesome deals starting Friday, November 27 (Black Friday) and continuing to Monday November 30 (Cyber Monday).
You can also get all coupons, including those prior to Black Friday and after Cyber Monday in our ShareASale Deals and Coupons Database.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
For those who don’t know, Black Friday is called that because retailers, traditionally brick and mortar stores, rely on the sales that day, the Friday after Thanksgiving, to get into the black, or positive earnings for the year (red is negative).
Over the past few years, Cyber Monday, the Monday after Thanksgiving, has morphed into the online version of Black Friday, in which e-tailers offer some great sales, via coupons or sitewide sales, to match their offline counterparts.
PPC Bidding: It’s about Profit, Not Pride
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Pay Per Click (PPC) on November 18th, 2009
Matt Siesing of ROI Revolution wrote a great post earlier this month about PPC bidding, entitled “Bid for Profitability, not Pride.”
So often, affiliates, merchants, well everyone lets their pride get in the way when doing PPC bidding.? But sometimes you have to put your pride aside and focus on making a profit, not on seeing your ad #1.
I would share more but there is nothing I can add to this post other than to add their cool cartoon with you.

Creating a Landing Page: Questions to Ask
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Pay Per Click (PPC), Web Design on November 17th, 2009
Kim Rowley of Key Internet Marketing had a great guest post by Rado Parling about the 12 Questions to Ask While Creating a Landing Page.
So often affiliates and even large merchants get caught up in what looks pretty rather than asking the important questions when designing their landing pages.
They are definitely good questions to consider and offer a checklist for your landing page design.
One great question he poses is:
Whether the desired action you want your user to take after visiting your landing page is easy to complete?
Think about the desired result (hint: it is probably to buy something, sign-up for something, or to register for something) that you want for a visitor.? What is that result?? How easy is it for them to get there?
I think this extends far beyond call-to-action buttons.? It has to do with your headline, text copy, images, sales funnel…everything on your site should lead them to the action you desire for them to take, and make it easy for them.
There are so many great questions, covering everything from content to page speed, the trust factor, and testing.? It is by no means an exhaustive list, but certainly a good start or refresher.? If you have a review site, be sure to read my Common Advice for Review Sites post.

How to Make Your Own Video in ShareASale
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Video Marketing, Web Design on November 13th, 2009
Are you a ShareASale affiliate with some great ideas to make your own videos promoting Learn & Master products?? If so, then this tutorial is for you.
Brian Littleton put together a great how-to video on how to add the video, select player settings, video size, add cue points (more on this below), and select other features for your video.
The Cue Point Builder is absolutely awesome.? It allows you to add ads at various points within the video.? These cue points allow you to pick specific times during the video to show a relevant ad, such as during this example, there is a reference to dancing, so Brian adds an cue point for an ad for our Learn & Master Ballroom Dance course.
You can view the tutorial below.? It really is a great tool!? Enjoy
How Darren Rowse Uses Email Newsletters
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Email Marketing on November 12th, 2009
Darren Rowse wrote a great post two weeks ago on ProBlogger about how he uses email newsletters to drive traffic (and thus, make money).
It’s not anything new per se, but it really is a great article about how to effectively use email newsletters.? It contains a great strategy and might help you organize your process for new subscribers, from the time they subscribe, to the welcome email, to weekly (or whatever period of time you want) updates, to themed updates, to special promotions.
Some of the advice may not apply to your site, but give it a good read and it will likely inspire some great ideas for your own newsletter…or if you don’t have a newsletter yet, it will definitely make you want to start one!

LEGACY Week Recap
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Legacy News on November 9th, 2009
Last week we had our first LEGACY Week on ShareASale with each letter of the word LEGACY representing the days of the week…well Y was the weekend at least.
When the week ended, we had given away over $500 in bonuses and prizes along with numerous lifetime commission increases which are sure to result in thousands of dollars in additional commissions.
L - On Monday we offered a Lifetime Commission Increase to affiliates who made just one sale on ShareASale, who signed up that day, or who made $450+ in sales.
E - On Tuesday we had an Emphasis on Piano, offering a 15% OFF coupon and 5% commission increase on all piano sales last week.? A great time to start promoting our Learn and Master Piano course.
G - This was Giveaway Wednesday. The first 5 affiliates who made a sale this Wednesday and sent me a DM on Twitter won the course of their choice.
A - Awe. Affiliates were in Awe of this day because we DOUBLED commissions on all sales of Learn and Master Ballroom Dance.
C - Combo Pack Friday! We are offering a special on our Learn and Master Painting Combo Pack all November.? The minimum commission on sales of this course is $104.70, even higher if you earned one of those commission increases.
Y - Your Turn.? I asked for feedback on how we could improve our program on ShareASale via our blog, ABestWeb forum, Twitter, or email and received some great feedback. The best feedback earned a $50 cash prize and was earned by Christopher.? Congratulations to him and thank you for the great ideas!? The random feedback prize has yet to be claimed so if you received that notice, you know who you are…just claim it
Overall, it was an absolutely great LEGACY Week.? I am looking forward to the next one!
