Gifts, New Year’s Resolutions Make First Quarter Hot!
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tips, Legacy News on December 30th, 2009
Picture this…Christmas morning little Johnny gets a guitar from his grandparents, but doesn’t know how to play. His parents put themselves through endless hours of non-chords and strings played in a sequence that make them long for the days of finger nails on chalkboards. Kind of sad isn’t it.

Or how about Steve’s wife Sharon who just got a beautiful painting set from her husband for Christmas. She is so excited to get started and create her first masterpiece, only to realize that all those years of watching Bob Ross on PBS when she was sick growing up haven’t exactly paid off. She needs to learn how to actually paint to create those masterpieces.
Thousands…no hundreds of thousands of people in the U.S. alone are currently staring at their instruments or painting kits and are desperate for instruction. Or they are determined that this will be the year that they will finally learn to dance with their spouses or really learn that instrument they have only been messing around with for years. They are looking for serious instruction…and we are just the place.
First quarter is the HOT time for our Learn & Master courses.? In fact if you look at our top months after December, first quarter dominates, with January, February, and March making up our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th biggest months. You can read more about our biggest months in detail here.
New Years Resolutions, new instruments, cold winter months inside…there are literally dozens of reasons why first quarter is going to be a GREAT quarter.
What are you waiting for…now is the time to start promoting our courses!
Wonderful Testimonial from our Discussion Board
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Legacy News on December 28th, 2009
Steve Krenz, our instructor for Learn and Master Guitar, shared a testimonial with us today from one of our Learn and Master Guitar students that I wanted to pass along to you. I just love it when we get such awesome feedback!? It is from Tony in Quebec, Canada.
Hello Steve and everyone at LMG, just wanted to share my progress with all of you and hopefully send some positive vibes your way, I have now just completed session 4 and loved it so much I decided to stay here a little longer just to really make sure I take all the time I need to let it sink in once and for all.
How can I describe the feeling of when it finally came to me, the reading of music I mean, which I never really paid much attention to before in the past, I would probably say it was a musical orgasm, WOW I could not believe my ears and eyes, my fingers having a mind of their own and they kept hitting the right note, chord, string its just unbelievable the feeling and I wish it upon all of you who are struggling right now, do NOT give up, it will come sooner than you think.
Steve I just wanted to let you know your course is by far the best I?ve seen that?s out there, and trust me when I say this because I wasted a lot of money on courses that promise you to play like Jimmy Hendrix in just one week and for all of you here at LMG, we now know that is a load of !$^&,I mean regular practice with the dreaded gnome pays off big time believe me, just your course itself is awesome but what really puts it all together for me is your discussion board and all the wonderful people with such great advice…the list goes on and on there is way to many of you to mention, but thank you guys and gals for such awesome posts and I am on every day and just love the advice?..keep up the great work everyone and I must say that I am proud to be part of LMG and with this being said God bless and rock on-Tony

The latest edition of FeedFront Magazine is out and issue 9 is the best ever if you ask me.
My article, entitled “The Song Remains the Same” is about a recent experience I had while reading a business textbook from 2001 about e-commerce sites. It dawned on me as I was reading that the things that were true over 8 years ago are still true today.
Check out the latest issue of FeedFront Magazine and read my article on page 7.
My Spinach Artichoke Dip Recipe
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Fun Stuff on December 22nd, 2009
Today I brought some of my famous (at least to those who have eaten it) spinach artichoke dip and people kept asking me for the recipe, so…I figured I would share it!
Here you go!? Keep in mind that I kind of make it up as I go so at the end you kind of have to use your intuition at the end :).
Ingredients
16 oz. Frozen Spinach
1-1 1/2 packages of cream cheese (or neufchatel cheese…yum!)
1 stick butter
About 5-8 heaping tablespoons sour cream
1-1 1/2 white onions
15 oz. Marinated Artichoke hearts, chopped
Red Pepper flakes
4-8 Garlic cloves
Mozzarella Cheese
Parmesan Cheese
Cooking Instructions
Saute the onions and garlic in the butter for 10 minutes on medium high.
Reduce heat to medium and add spinach. Simmer and stir regularly for 5 minutes.
Add cream cheese slowly and stir for 5 minutes until everything is coated in it.
Add sour cream slowly and stir for 2-3 minutes.
Add artichoke hearts and stir for 2-3 minutes.
Add Red Pepper flakes to taste.
Add Mozzarella and Parmesan Cheese slowly and stir to desired thickness.
YUM!
Early Odds on the Pinnacle Awards
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Marketing News, Fun Stuff on December 21st, 2009
One of my favorite people in this business, Joe Sousa, put up some early odds on the Pinnacle Awards winners. He is calling for a close race in the Affiliate Manager of the Year award. He is definitely right. Jamie Birch and Stephanie Harris are two of the best and very deserving. It should be fun to see all the winners this year!

The Billionaire and the Hare
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tips on December 18th, 2009
This past Wednesday night, my wife and I attended a Financial Peace University class at our church. For those who don?t know, Financial Peace University is a series of classes done by nationally syndicated radio host, TV host, and best-selling author, Dave Ramsey.
In his lesson about investing, Dave discusses a recent meeting with a billionaire. Currently, there are only about 300 billionaires in America, so you can imagine how excited Dave must have been. It is a very rare opportunity to meet with one of these people.
He eagerly met with this man hoping to learn a few of his secrets about how to be a billionaire. He had his notepad and pen ready and asked what advice this man had for him.
The man told him only two things. The first was to keep on giving. Dave gives away a lot. To callers on his show, he often gives them a book or pays their way through Financial Peace. He has a non-profit to help people get out of debt and save money. This man told him to never stop doing that. For Dave, that was a no-brainer.
The second thing the billionaire told Dave was to read a certain book. Dave got excited. Like me, he is a reader. This man told him that he reads this book over and over; in fact he has read it many times to his grandchildren. The name of the book is one that almost all of us know, The Tortoise and the Hare.
There you have it?the secret to being a billionaire is to read that book! No, not really, but the man?s point was that slow and steady does indeed win the race. Every single time the tortoise wins! Every time.
Affiliate marketing success is much the same. The tortoises win. The tortoises start slow and have some bumps along the way. Affiliate tortoises plan their tests and test their plans. Tortoises understand and relish that affiliate marketing, like any career, rarely has overnight success and requires years of intense dedication.
Affiliate tortoises don?t mind watching the hares sprint ahead only to pass them a year or two later.? Tortoises don?t listen to the naysayers who say that what they are doing is impossible. Tortoises don?t fret about growing only 10% this year or having a bad month every now and then.
To be clear, affiliate tortoises certainly are not satisfied with stagnation. The tortoise in the fable did not merely stand still. He slowly crept toward his goal, the finish line. Affiliate tortoises work hard, but more importantly they work smartly and consistently.
When your friends or some guru or some ancient voice from your childhood is telling you to quit or to try to be the hare, just remember, the tortoise wins every time!

What URL Shortener is Best?
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tools, Viral Marketing/Social Media on December 15th, 2009
With the limited release of Google’s new URL shortener yesterday, I began to wonder just how many URL shorteners are out there and which one is the best?
Currently Google’s service is only available through the Google Toolbar and FeedBurner, but I imagine they will expand it to everyone before too long…or they may just use it to get more people to use their services.
But that makes me wonder…what is so special about it that one would download a toolbar to use it? What do you look for in a URL shortener?
So far it seems the most popular services are bit.ly, tinyurl (still around), ow.ly, which is what I use through the HootSuite interface for Twitter, and tr.im.? Every now and then I am curious how a particular tweet did…how many people read it or retweeted it, so having the stats from ow.ly helps.
What are your thoughts?
