Time Management Tips for Affiliates

Are you struggling to manage your time as an affiliate?

When I worked from home years ago designing sites and doing affiliate marketing, I really liked setting my own schedule, working from home, listening to radio as loud as I wanted, and having the freedom to do what I wanted to do.  But I really struggled with managing my time, especially when Bravo ran West Wing marathons.  I was pretty much useless on those days :(

Affiliate Classroom has some great tips for managing your time and I thought I would share them with you.

You can read all of them in their posts here and here but here are a few highlights:

  1. Keep a to-do list right in front of you.  I go with paper personally except for appointments where I use my Outlook calendar. I look down at it and things just stare at me.  And I love crossing things off!
  2. Set Goals and Tight Deadlines. This is very important. Don’t let things sit for too long.  Read my article in FeedFront Magazine about procrastination.
  3. Stick to your Business Hours.  Mine were typically 10:00AM to 12:00 PM, 3:00PM-11:00PM when I worked from home. If you are a morning person, pick some morning hours and stick to them.  If you are a night owl, then choose those and stick to them.  If you work better in shorter spurts, then spread them out.  Whatever hours you work, make them real office hours.
  4. Develop a routine that closely resembles a regular job routine. Shave, shower, workout, eat, get dressed. Whatever you need to do to establish that you are GOING to work now, do it.

They have a lot more great tips, so check them out :)  And don’t forget one of their tips especially…have fun and reward yourself.  You may be alone and not in an office full of co-workers, but if you have a success, celebrate it!
