FeedFront Magazine Issue Ten is Online

Issue Ten of FeedFront Magazine is online and has some great articles, affiliate tips, coverage of Affiliate Summit West, including the Pinnacle Awards, and tons more!
My article entitled Of Golf and Affiliate Marketing on page nine talks about the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people in affiliate marketing. I share some valuable lessons in my life that learned growing up playing golf.
One of the quotes I reference is from one of my favorite people, Charlie “Tremendous” Jones who said:
“You are the same today as you’ll be in five years except for two things, the people you meet and the books you read.”
In the artic
le I warn affiliates against being sabotaged by negative relatives, friends, and online associates in the forums on in social media.
We all know them. They are the ones who think affiliates sit around all day playing on the computer or the affiliates who write 10 posts a day and 9 of them complain about how hard it is. They are all negative influences who drag us down.
Here is an excerpt:
If you want to be successful in affiliate marketing, stop hanging out with affiliates who whine all the time about the industry, their merchants, or their performance. Quit reading posts from people who demotivate you. Quit associating with friends who tell you that you need to get a “real job.”
Instead, find people who have a positive attitude about affiliate marketing and support you in your efforts. Find people who have been doing this for a while, had their ups and downs, failures and successes, and associate with those people. Find members at a forum like ABestWeb who are positive and helpful and read their posts. If you find someone who is always negative, avoid their posts at all costs.
You can read the full article on page nine.
My friend and fellow Affiliate Manager, Patrick Vesperman, also writes a great article about building relationships and learning from them. Ironically, it is a great follow-up to my article
Here is an excerpt of that article:
Around this same time I met Matt McWilliams at Legacy Learning Systems. I was looking for advice and he responded to one of my questions. He could have emailed me and that would have been that. Instead, he called. He didn’t have to, but because he called, Matt and I continue to correspond and find that we have more in common than just our roles as affiliate managers.
Issue Ten might very well be FeedFront’s best yet. Check it out here. Well done Shawn Collins and Missy Ward.
First Sales Booming!
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Encouragement on February 22nd, 2010
So far this month we have had TWENTY new affiliates make their first sale on ShareASale. That is almost one per day!
In the past three days alone, we have had six affiliates make their first sale.
ShareASale has a report that shows the affiliates for a time period that have made their first sale. Here is a screenshot of it below. Some of them are really rocking…made their first sale within the past week and are already vying for that 10 sale February bonus!
Keep up the great work guys and gals

Drawing a Line in the Sand by Chris Rempel
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Encouragement, Affiliate Tips on January 22nd, 2010
Chris Rempel of the Lazy Marketer’s Blog wrote literally one of the best posts I have read in a long time.
I am not suggesting that his post applies to anyone in particular, but if you read it and feel convicted, you know it applies to you. At worst, I hope that it motivates you.
Here is an excerpt about a guy he is interviewing soon, who recently surpassed seven-figures online. The most amazing part about it is that he is BLIND!
Blind, as in can?t see anything. Born that way.
Can?t see the sites he?s building, or what they look like. Can?t use so many of the tools and resources that we take completely for granted.
And yet he?s built an online business (just imagine yourself doing this without being able to see) to a level that most ?gurus? and teachers haven?t even attained with years of experience and, of course, the advantage of being able to SEE.
Now, I dunno about you guys, but this guy?s story essentially shoots down EVERY excuse I?ve ever received (as well as every excuse I?ve ever made myself).
Oh - you have a full time job and it?s hard to ?make the time??
Try doing it blind. (And amazingly, you have time to watch TV, drink beer, play video games, etc.)
Oh - you don?t like how long it takes to produce good content?
Try doing it blind. (Aside from the fact that good content pays off for years.)
There is a LOT more to this post and I encourage you to read it. He draws a line in the sand…check it out.

Fourth Quarter Results - WOW!
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Encouragement, Legacy News on January 18th, 2010
Today I crunched our affiliate numbers for the fourth quarter of 2009 and the final numbers were truly exciting!
Our affiliate revenue was up 61.9% compared to 2008.
I believe this was due to many factors, including:
New courses like Learn & Master Painting and our Spotlight Series courses for Blues Guitar and Guitar Set-Up and Maintenance.
The addition of hundreds of new creatives and banners, videos, widgets, etc.
The awesome work of the ShareASale team in helping us get up on their network.
Better testing producing better conversions. This was especially critical in determining the right price point during the Christmas season.
In light of the economic problems in our country, I think a 61.9% growth is pretty awesome.
Thank you to all of your awesome work in helping us do this…I look forward to an even better FIRST quarter of this year
Remember Gifts and New Years Resolutions make First Quarter a great one here at Legacy.
Better than Private and Group Lessons!
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Encouragement on January 18th, 2010
Why are our Learn & Master courses better than private lessons and group lessons? And what does this mean for you affiliates promoting our courses?
There are a lot of reasons our courses are the best option for many people. Some of them include:
- Cheaper - The average private lesson in America is $50/hour. For less than the cost of three private lessons, you can buy one of our courses. Group lessons vary in price from $10-20 per lesson. Our courses are significantly cheaper than both options.
- Go at your own pace - Need a week off for a business trip? No problem! Have an emergency? No problem! Private lessons usually require a 24 hour notice to cancel a lesson. Not exactly viable when you have to work late or are stuck in traffic or waiting for a flight or have an emergency that day. Miss a group lesson and you miss an entire topic and are now behind and it’s hard to catch up. With our courses, you go at your own page. Pop in the DVDs when you want to. Skip a day, watch them at midnight in your pajamas, or schedule time every single day but pause and rewind as needed.
- Convenience - What can be easier than learning at home? No traveling. No waiting. No packing up your instrument and risking damage. You learn from home…your home.
- No Embarrassment - Let’s face it, most guys don’t want to learn Ballroom Dancing in a group or well…anywhere except for home. Many men and women are easily embarrassed and want to learn in an environment where they can not worry about what others think. Our courses allow you to do just that!
Nicholas, who works at the U.S. Embassy in Belgium, shared his story about beginning our Learn & Master Guitar Lesson Program with us recently…it sums up the convenience of our courses and reminded us of four of our great selling points!
Steve, I am a diplomat assigned to the US Embassy in Brussels, Belgium and to say the least I have no regular schedule and much stress as well. I am a beginner guitar player and took some of your tips to heart, especially dedicating practice time and keep my sessions to 15-20 minutes and then put my guitar down and walk away. I enjoy playing through the exercises and will not proceed to the next lesson, until I have completed the previous one to my satisfaction.? I think the philosophy of “small bites” and giving time to digest the material is well said. Keep the tips coming and I am enjoying your teaching style and approach.
Take care, Nicholas.

Inspired by the Billionaire and the Hare
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Encouragement, Fun Stuff on January 7th, 2010
Yesterday I got one of the best emails from an affiliate that I have ever received and I wanted to share it with all of you.
This affiliate had her best month ever in December, which was great. She was so excited as she earned a $200 bonus for making 50 sales (you can see all of our bonuses on ShareASale here) and she more than doubled her previous best month’s sales! How awesome is that?
As excited as I am that she is succeeding as an affiliate, what made this email so inspiring to me and put the biggest smile on my face was this part:
I want to say ‘thank you’ for your blog - it is becoming my everyday ‘must’ to check your blog.? It’s always uplifting to read.? Specifically I was inspired by your post “The Billionaire and the Hare“.? I never thought seriously about giving, but I just couldn’t help thinking after reading your post.? I also started giving (not big amounts) and I have to say doing that releases me from some fears (I may not even have noticed them before) - really amazing to have more freedom.
Winston Churchill said that “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” Just this morning I was reading in Chapter 11 of Proverbs and was reminded of two of my favorite verses 24 & 25:
One man gives freely, yet gains even more;
another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.
A generous man will prosper;
he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
Now, I promise I won’t preach to you here, but I shared this post with my wife and we both just glowed in the influence that this post had on someone to give, to share in the blessings she has received. It made my day…ok, my week. What a great start to the year!
Lastly, this affiliate said that the story encouraged her in another way…patience:
Also, the story of the Hare is such a great encouragement to me.? As a beginner, somehow I tended to get anxious when finding I am not able to do this and that.? Your post really helped me to stay calm and cool when there is still a lot to learn and do.? I appreciate it.
I hope that it does the same for you. You can read it here.
To the affiliate, as I said in my email, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
