New Videos Added to ShareASale
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tools, Legacy News, Video Marketing on March 9th, 2010
Last night we added three new videos to our ShareASale Videos and updated two others.
We added videos for the Learn & Master Spotlight Series Blues Guitar course as well as the Spotlight Series Guitar Set-Up and Maintenance course and our Home School Painting course.
We also updated the videos for our Home School Editions of Guitar and Piano.
Videos are easy to find and easy to add from the ShareASale interface. And they track to your account!
Just login to your account and go to “Get Videos.”

Do a search for “Legacy Learning”

Click on “Get Video Code”

Click on Get this Video Code - Notice how ours are organized with titles such as “Award-Winning Ballroom Dance Course Medium”
We give them titles that are user friendly (the people viewing them) but the last word is always the size so they are easy to find.
We have three sizes: Small, Medium, and Large.
Copy and paste the code from ShareASale

Coming Soon: Sample Lesson Videos!
Here is a preview of the Guitar Set-Up Video as an example.
Update on New ShareASale Traffic Report
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tools, Legacy News on March 9th, 2010
As I posted Saturday, ShareASale has a new Traffic Report for tracking clicks, conversions, EPC, and more by bannerID and afftrack.
They made a few tweaks recently including to default it to Month-to-Date (MTD) and to allow you to run it for the current day.
Well done once again ShareASale!
New ShareASale Traffic Report
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Marketing News, Affiliate Tools, Legacy News on March 6th, 2010
ShareASale just released their new Traffic Report and it is AWESOME!

It allows you to run a report for a period of time and view the clicks and the data associated with them such as hits, commissions, sales, conversions, EPC, etc.
You can run and order it by the following parameters (there may be more that I am missing):
- various creative types (banners, text links, widgets, videos, etc.)
- each merchant or all merchants
- sales, commissions, epc, voids, etc.
- afftrack and bannerID
As far as I am concerned, it may be the best report they have put out to date…although I do have a few personal favorites.
You can find it Under Reports/Stats.
It looks a little something like this:

Scott on ABestWeb did point out that it is missing default date values such as last month, month to date, and this week. Those would be good additions, but as it is I give this new report a 9 1/2 out of 10 stars!

Three Cool Tools to Choose Your Website Colors
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tools, Web Design on February 22nd, 2010
As you know, the colors you use on your website play a big role in the overall impression that your visitors get of whatever it is you are trying to sell to them.
I am a big believer that color schemes must be well thought out. I personally have some favorites, but sometimes I get tired of designing the same old sites or my own favorite colors don’t match a product.
I have used three tools that I highly recommend for choosing a color scheme that I wanted to share with you. I have seen others, but these are my favorites. All of them are FREE!
Am I missing one? If so, share your favorites here!
Very easy to use color theme creator. There are six palette settings: monochromatic, complimentary, triad, tetrad, analogic, and accented analogic color that you can choose depending on what type of site you are designing. The best feature and why it is my number one pick, is the ability to preview the scheme on a dummy web page. You can also export your color palette as a Photoshop palette, HTML+CSS, TEXT, XML, and GPL .

One great feature of Colorotate is the ability to browse through various user templates. They are a great source of inspiration.
I don’t find it as easy to use as the Color Scheme Designer, but it is still a good resource. Another great feature and one that makes it totally worthwhile is using the 3D interface to see the multidimensional nature of the colors. You can also upload images and use those colors if you already have a logo or design in place.

Least favorite of the three. You can extract color schemes from images which is good, but I personally don’t like the interface. Like Colorotate, you can look through previous users themes and get some inspiration, which is a great feature.

Product Level Reporting on ShareASale
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tools, Legacy News on February 12th, 2010
As of about one hour ago, we now have Product Level Reporting on ShareASale!
This means that you can now see what product was purchased by the customer on every sale going forward.
It’s very easy to access this information too. Just click on “Activity Details” under Reports/Stats (upper left when you login to ShareASale), then run the report for the time period you want and each sale will report the product that was purchased. It looks like this:

If there are more than one products purchased, it will show each of them separated by a comma. If more than one of a product is purchased, it will display the number that were bought.
I hope this helps you with promoting our products. As we add more and more courses, I am sure this will be even more relevant.
Speaking of new courses, be sure to check out the updates here on the blog about our upcoming Bass Guitar Spotlight course (and Fingerstyle Guitar as well)!
Also, if you got the email about it, don’t forget the look for the Easter Egg!

About ShareASale Pay Per Call
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tools, Legacy News, Pay Per Call on January 21st, 2010
As I announced yesterday, our Pay Per Call campaigns are LIVE to affiliates on ShareASale!
But what exactly is Pay Per Call and how can you use it as an affiliate?
According to Brian Littleton, founder and CEO of ShareASale:
![]() |
|
Pay Per Call allows you to promote us in a great fun new way. As you will see in our sample banners below, the call to action is the toll-free number, which is unique to you. Of course, if a person clicks on the banner, it is still tracked as normal to your account, just as a regular banner, with a LIFETIME cookie!
When the number is called, the caller will be prompted to enter one of three options, from service calls, ordering, or other. If they press the “order” option and remain on the phone for 4 or more minutes, you are credited with a sale, which pays out at $15.00.
![]() |
The average sales call takes between 7 and 10 minutes, since usually they have some questions, so we timed it at 4 minutes in order to account for those really quick order calls. About half the people who call to order end up ordering, so we put the payout at half of the average commission ($29.80).
Over time, we will adjust each affiliate payout based on the actual percentage of people who purchase on converting calls, so if your calls produce a 75% “conversion” we will payout $22.50 (or higher based on volume as well) for example. I hope that this explains what Pay Per Call is and how you can utilize it. To sign-up for it, simply go to the Pay Per Call Center in your ShareASale account and then look for Legacy Learning Systems and click on “Click to Apply.” |
Once you are approved, you will be able to access all campaigns and creatives (see examples below) and get your own number.
As soon as possible this week or next (by the way, next week is LEGACY WEEK 2.0…more information here on that) I will add a tutorial video about Pay Per Call to our ShareASale Video Tutorials section.
In the meantime, if you need any help, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here to help!
I look forward to working with you in this new, exciting way and to continuing to serve you!

ShareASale Video Tutorial - Using our Coupons and Deals
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tools, Coupons and Deals, Video Marketing on January 13th, 2010
Here is video tutorial number two in our ShareASale Affiliate Tutorials series to help our ShareASale affiliates learn the interface better.
Today’s video is about using our coupons and deals; how to find them, get them, and add them to your site. As usual, I include some great buffer music at the beginning and the end. This time it is actually from one of our affiliates and one of my absolute favorite people in the affiliate marketing industry, Joe Sousa. His band, Modern Dissent, has a great song called “Rise Up with Me” that is featured.

I am in the process of starting a full collection of video tutorials on YouTube for our wonderful ShareASale affiliates including such topics as Getting Banners and Links, Creating Custom Links, Getting Coupons and Deals Links, the Various ShareASale Reports, and whatever else I get asked for over the next few weeks. I am sure that I will add to it from time to time as well.
The first one in this installment is a nice getting started tutorial on how to get your banners and links in the ShareASale interface. Over the next few days, I will post all of them in a central place (in addition to the Legacy Learning Systems Affiliate Program YouTube Channel) and will post the link here. Why ShareASale is Our Network of Choice
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tools on January 8th, 2010
Why is ShareASale our network of choice? Here is a video I shot that answers just that question.
We have been working with ShareASale for a little over 6 months, but I have been working with them for over 3 years now and I only have great things to say about them. One of my first objectives when I started here at Legacy was to get setup with ShareASale. And within only a few weeks, we were already making sales. Since then, we have had record week after record week.
Everything from their interface, reporting, affiliate tools like widgets and videos, coupons and datafeeds, and even the little things like how I upload banners and add new creatives, make it so easy and such a pleasure to work with ShareASale. More importantly, but less noticeable is a lot of the behind the scenes stuff though like their service and dedication to serving customers, both merchants and affiliates.
