New Videos Added to ShareASale
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tools, Legacy News, Video Marketing on March 9th, 2010
Last night we added three new videos to our ShareASale Videos and updated two others.
We added videos for the Learn & Master Spotlight Series Blues Guitar course as well as the Spotlight Series Guitar Set-Up and Maintenance course and our Home School Painting course.
We also updated the videos for our Home School Editions of Guitar and Piano.
Videos are easy to find and easy to add from the ShareASale interface. And they track to your account!
Just login to your account and go to “Get Videos.”

Do a search for “Legacy Learning”

Click on “Get Video Code”

Click on Get this Video Code - Notice how ours are organized with titles such as “Award-Winning Ballroom Dance Course Medium”
We give them titles that are user friendly (the people viewing them) but the last word is always the size so they are easy to find.
We have three sizes: Small, Medium, and Large.
Copy and paste the code from ShareASale

Coming Soon: Sample Lesson Videos!
Here is a preview of the Guitar Set-Up Video as an example.
Update on New ShareASale Traffic Report
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tools, Legacy News on March 9th, 2010
As I posted Saturday, ShareASale has a new Traffic Report for tracking clicks, conversions, EPC, and more by bannerID and afftrack.
They made a few tweaks recently including to default it to Month-to-Date (MTD) and to allow you to run it for the current day.
Well done once again ShareASale!

New ShareASale Traffic Report
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Marketing News, Affiliate Tools, Legacy News on March 6th, 2010
ShareASale just released their new Traffic Report and it is AWESOME!

It allows you to run a report for a period of time and view the clicks and the data associated with them such as hits, commissions, sales, conversions, EPC, etc.
You can run and order it by the following parameters (there may be more that I am missing):
- various creative types (banners, text links, widgets, videos, etc.)
- each merchant or all merchants
- sales, commissions, epc, voids, etc.
- afftrack and bannerID
As far as I am concerned, it may be the best report they have put out to date…although I do have a few personal favorites.
You can find it Under Reports/Stats.
It looks a little something like this:

Scott on ABestWeb did point out that it is missing default date values such as last month, month to date, and this week. Those would be good additions, but as it is I give this new report a 9 1/2 out of 10 stars!
Awesome Painting Course Testimonial from Michigan!
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Legacy News on March 6th, 2010
Got this from our CEO the other day. WOW!
Dear Legacy,
It’s true what your motto says,…”making personal dreams come true”. I am so pleased with Gayle Levee as instructor in Learn & Master Painting. I began very slowly about one month ago and am only on lesson 5, but already visualize myself painting sceneries on my own. I haven’t had any previous training at all, and though I’ve had a desire to paint, I’ve wondered even with lessons if I actually could. Well, I am definitely on my way. I was so please with my first forest that I actually clapped at my work!. Thanks Legacy for a wonderful course …and making a dream with reach.
Gratefully,
Linda from Michigan

Ultimately what you are trying to do is to frame the DVD courses in terms of private lessons.
Since people are not searching for DVD courses only, you must first convince them of the concept of learning at home. Many people have NO idea that
a. such an option exists
b. that such an option really CAN teach them what they want to learn.
So what they need is to:
a. be convinced of the extreme cost of private/group lessons and the difference in prices
b. be convinced of the convenience of at home lessons
- no missed appointments and payments for those
- travels with you
- on YOUR time
- can go at your own pace - relevant especially when compared to group lessons
- can repeat lessons anytime
c. be convinced that at home lessons are of equal or greater quality than private/group lessons. Many instructors are not qualified and it may take months to find the right one, which can cost hundreds of dollars.
d. be convinced that Learn & Master courses are by far better than other at home DVD courses AND better than most private instruction or group instruction, at a fraction of the cost, time, and more convenient.

Bass Guitar Video Teaser
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Legacy News on March 5th, 2010
Our production team is working feverishly on the forthcoming Learn & Master Spotlight Series: Bass Guitar course.
The shooting is done. Instructor Tony Marvelli (right) and our production team did a marvelous job shooting the course. I have seen (and heard a lot down the hall) clips of it and it is awesome! They just keep getting better.
Next week or early the week after we will have some preliminary graphics including product shots and a few banner ads ready. For the next week after that, we will be adding even more banners.
We will be making these banners inactive in ShareASale until a day or two before the pre-order, so if you want to get them ahead of time, just email me and ask permission and I will make them active for you.
The release date is April 30 and we will likely be starting the Pre-Order two weeks before that. I will have a final Pre-Order date very soon.
The price of the course is $49.00.
Also, just to remind you…the Fingerstyle Guitar Spotlight is already in the works and will be released in late July. Learn & Master Photography has already had a test shoot and from what I hear, it looked awesome! It is going to be the longest course in terms of number of lessons and it will be out this fall.
Here is that video…look forward to getting you more soon!
Top Ten in the iTunes App Store
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Legacy News on March 5th, 2010
The Gibson Learn & Master Guitar Application just cracked the TOP TEN in the App Store on iTunes!
This gets us on the front page which will only increase the downloads, the exposure, and the branding. Honestly, we would have been thrilled with top 50. Then we were super excited when we made the top 25, which got us on the first page of the apps on the iPhone. Now, top ten on the iTunes page? Incredible!

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar (Van Halen) with the App
The Gibson Learn & Master Guitar iPhone App is in a word…HOT! As of this writing, over 125,000 people have downloaded the app.
It really is the BEST app out there for tuning and the like and best of all it is FREE!
We partnered with Gibson Guitars, known worldwide for producing classic models in every major style of fretted instrument, including acoustic and electric guitars, mandolins, and banjos. (The Gibson Les Paul guitar is the best selling guitar of all time and bears the name of the late, great Les Paul).
FEATURES OF THE APP:
A professional quality Chromatic Tuner that will allow you to tune any instrument using the iPhone microphone (or iPod Touch with microphone attachment)
- Alternate Tuning settings so you can quickly and easily tune your guitar to various alternate tunings, including Open G, Low C, Drop D, Eb and others.
- A Standard
Mode Tuner that allows you to tune each string to a sample tone
- An accurate Metronome with multiple time signatures, visual and audio options, and a set-your-own tempo tap pad
- A Chord Library with a sample of the essential chords for every player beginner to advanced
- Free Videos Lessons - Watch full length lessons from the Award Winning Learn & Master Guitar course. Watch as instructor Steve Krenz gets you started on your way to mastering the guitar.
You can download it in the App Store.
How does this help affiliates?
The biggest way is the publicity that we are and will be getting from it. The number of people searching for Learn and Master Guitar is significantly increasing, and the number of people looking for guitar learning courses who have heard of it is rising fast. All of this makes sales easier and conversions higher!
As you can see on the right, one of the key aspects to the app is the lessons. There are tons of comments in iTunes and on the Gibson site and elsewhere about those being the
best feature.
Naturally, many of the people who view them are going to remember that and sooner or later will be looking for our course. Many advanced players who don’t need instruction will certainly remember us for gifts for aspiring players.
Long story short is this is VERY exciting news for us and you! I hope that, if you have an iPhone, you will download the app and let us know what you think. Every little bit helps!
Even if you don’t, you can still tell your friends and family. Also, it is a great thing to list in a description of our course. Yet another feather in our cap. And don’t worrk about losing tracking to visitors to the page. You can send them to our app page on our site (deep-link).
P.S. If you get our newsletters make sure to look for the Easter Egg on this one

Tracking Problems - Very Sorry!
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Legacy News on February 19th, 2010
To all of our affiliates, I must sincerely apologize.
It has come to my attention that we have had a major tracking problem for the past couple of days. I am not sure at this time of the exact amount of time it has been going on, but it started as late as 6:00 pm last night and as early as Tuesday of this week. My best guess right now is somewhere in the middle.
As of just now it has been fixed, however I know that it has caused some serious problems for many of you and for that I am deeply sorry.
I take full responsibility for the errors as they were caused by updating a file in our tracking that I could have prevented. I should have done a better job of communicating with our team here to have avoided this. Trust me, the same problem will not happen again.
I will be working to make sure that you are compensated for all lost commissions and I will be certain err on the side of paying you more than you lost as a result.
I have to leave town shortly today for some family obligations but I will be informing you of the resolution to this as soon as possible on Monday.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of our great program.
Again, I am truly sorry for the errors.
Product Level Reporting on ShareASale
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tools, Legacy News on February 12th, 2010
As of about one hour ago, we now have Product Level Reporting on ShareASale!
This means that you can now see what product was purchased by the customer on every sale going forward.
It’s very easy to access this information too. Just click on “Activity Details” under Reports/Stats (upper left when you login to ShareASale), then run the report for the time period you want and each sale will report the product that was purchased. It looks like this:

If there are more than one products purchased, it will show each of them separated by a comma. If more than one of a product is purchased, it will display the number that were bought.
I hope this helps you with promoting our products. As we add more and more courses, I am sure this will be even more relevant.
Speaking of new courses, be sure to check out the updates here on the blog about our upcoming Bass Guitar Spotlight course (and Fingerstyle Guitar as well)!
Also, if you got the email about it, don’t forget the look for the Easter Egg!
