Pay Per Call Program Updates
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Pay Per Call on April 29th, 2010
I am super excited to announce that we have made some big updates to our Pay Per Call Program on ShareASale.
To cut straight to the best part, we have increased our payouts across the board on converting calls to $20.00.
So now every call that lasts 4 minutes or longer pays out at $20.00. And, of course, affiliates that convert at higher than normal rates are eligible for even further increases.
We have also added new campaigns for the following categories as well:
Bass Guitar Spotlight Series
Blues Guitar Spotlight Series
Guitar Set-Up and Maintenance Spotlight Series
All Courses Together
All Home School Courses
I could not wait any longer to send you news of the payout increase and new categories so I literally have not even had time to add creatives to anything except the Blues Guitar campaign, but you can still use the numbers for them. Tomorrow and next week I will finish the campaigns with creatives and, as always, if you need a creative in a specific size, just let me know and I will make it for you.
Now, let’s get some people calling!

Some of you already know this because of the automated updates that ShareASale sends when we change things, but the rest of you will have to wait until tomorrow for some exciting news on our Pay Per Call program on ShareASale.
Yep, this is called a teaser and yes you can be mad at me for not telling you more
OK, basically it involves more links, additional categories, and more money. Does that work for now?

I really enjoyed my guest appearance last night on the Both Sides of the Tracks Podcast with Jason Rubacky from ShareASale, affiliate Eric Nagel, and Rob Duva and Jason Spievak of RingRevenue.
The major topic of discussion was our Pay Per Call program on ShareASale.
We talk about the success we have had with our program and ways to improve it, as well as ways that affiliates can best use this platform.
As many have pointed out recently, it is the best affiliate podcast out there (even if I am biased towards our own haha).

Affiliate Marketing Insider Podcast Features RingRevenue Discussing Pay Per Call

From the PartnerCentric Blog:
Join Host Linda Woods at noon Pacific (3 p.m. Eastern) Thursday for another edition of the Affiliate Marketing Insider podcast on WebmasterRadio.fm. This week Linda is joined by Ring Revenue CEO Jason Spievak and EVP of Sales Monty Hudson who will be talking about the success affiliate marketers are having with the Ring Revenue pay-per-call platform.
Ring Revenue’s solution has been licensed by some of the major affiliate networks, including Commission Junction and ShareASale. To cite one success story, ShareASale advertiser Legacy Learning Systems launched pay-per-call services through ShareASale in January 2010. Within the first 30 days, Legacy generated nearly 200 calls. One hundred percent of the calls that qualified for an affiliate commission payout have converted to a sale. Some affiliates have done so well that Legacy increased their commissions by up to 25 percent.
Ring Revenue makes it easy for affiliate networks and advertising agencies to track purchases made by phone. The company’s patent-pending pay-per-call platform makes it easy for online and offline publishers to promote call-based campaigns through the leading affiliate networks, and its proprietary call quality processing engine ensures delivery of the highest-quality callers to advertisers.
In addition to making pay-per-call campaigns available to affiliates to promote, merchants are also using the Ring Revenue platform to track and manage their own direct call-based campaign promotions, where they don’t pay affiliate commissions.
Affiliate Marketing Insider is now in its third year on the air and is broadcast at noon Pacific each Thursday on WebmasterRadio.fm. For an archives of previous shows, visit http://www2.webmasterradio.fm/affiliate-marketing-insider/.
New ShareASale Pay Per Call Recording
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Pay Per Call on March 31st, 2010
Yesterday I was listening to the Affiliate Thing podcast with Shawn Collins and Lisa Picarille and Shawn mentioned a new site called Fiverr.com.
I have been wanting a new recording for our Pay Per Call greeting on ShareASale but haven’t been able to find the right person. Fiverr made it very easy and we found a few great voices, from which we picked one, a lady named Geri (her Fiverr profile is here), who recorded our new greeting for all calls that go through our Pay Per Call platform. It is a great greeting, much better than our current one and as Jason Rubacky at ShareASale said, it will definitely increase conversions even more!

RingRevenue CEO Writes about Legacy’s Pay Per Call
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tools, Legacy News, Pay Per Call on March 26th, 2010
(Please note this is a duplicate post due to a database error and it was lost)
Jason Spievak, CEO of RingRevenue, wrote an awesome article earlier this week about Pay Per Call.
Here are some highlights, but I highly suggest reading the full article.
One of the easiest ways to boost the performance of an ad is also one of the simplest: include a phone number.
This is absolutely a great way improve the performance of your ads. It literally instantly increases the trust factor.
In an instant, a potential buyer sees that the advertiser is real, tangible, and can be reached if necessary, raising their comfort level with entering into a business transaction.
Jason points out that a phone number is really useful for increasing conversions and sale amounts, especially with higher priced items like ours.
Not surprisingly, calls convert at higher rates — and with higher average ticket prices — than clicks, thanks to the consultative sales skills of a trained agent. Clicks generally convert at 1% to 3%, while calls convert at a much more appealing 30% to 50% rate with 1.5 to 2 times the ticket price on average, thanks to the upsell and cross-sell capabilities of the call center agent.
He shares a well-documented statistic about those people who research online and buy offline. The numbers, even in 2010, are staggering.
More than 60% of shoppers do their research online, but purchase offline.
As for Legacy Learning Systems, how exactly is it working for us so far? Well as Jason says,
Take the guitar lesson example. Legacy Learning Systems provides instructional DVDs for music and the arts. Customers often want to speak with someone about the DVDs and talk through their options. When customers call, those calls convert. In fact, when they come through the company’s affiliate base, all calls that result in a commission are converting to sales.
In short, what are you waiting for? Pay Per Call is, simply put, extra money for you. It will increase clicks and calls, conversions, sale amounts.

Our First Pay Per Call Commission Increase on ShareASale!
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Pay Per Call on February 25th, 2010
I just got to award our first commission increase on our Pay Per Call program on ShareASale to Marvin in the Bahamas, who is now earning $20.00 on every converting call.
A converting call is any call that presses [2] for information on buying the course and lasts over four minutes. As I mentioned in this post, we chose four minutes because that is under the average time that a buying call takes. Some take as much as twenty minutes while others take only four or five minutes. Most calls that last over four minutes result in a sale though.
After ten converting calls, we consider the number that actually bought and continue to adjust payouts based on the quality of the calls. Marvin’s calls were of an outstanding quality so he earned the increase. I am looking forward to giving him another one after his next ten or twenty calls and to giving increases to all of you who have not yet generated ten calls.

About ShareASale Pay Per Call
Posted by Matt McWilliams in Affiliate Tools, Legacy News, Pay Per Call on January 21st, 2010
As I announced yesterday, our Pay Per Call campaigns are LIVE to affiliates on ShareASale!
But what exactly is Pay Per Call and how can you use it as an affiliate?
According to Brian Littleton, founder and CEO of ShareASale:
![]() |
|
Pay Per Call allows you to promote us in a great fun new way. As you will see in our sample banners below, the call to action is the toll-free number, which is unique to you. Of course, if a person clicks on the banner, it is still tracked as normal to your account, just as a regular banner, with a LIFETIME cookie!
When the number is called, the caller will be prompted to enter one of three options, from service calls, ordering, or other. If they press the “order” option and remain on the phone for 4 or more minutes, you are credited with a sale, which pays out at $20.00.
![]() |
The average sales call takes between 7 and 10 minutes, since usually they have some questions, so we timed it at 4 minutes in order to account for those really quick order calls. About half the people who call to order end up ordering, so we put the payout at half of the average commission ($29.80).
Over time, we will adjust each affiliate payout based on the actual percentage of people who purchase on converting calls, so if your calls produce a 75% conversion we will payout $23.00 (or higher based on volume as well) for example. I hope that this explains what Pay Per Call is and how you can utilize it. To sign-up for it, simply go to the Pay Per Call Center in your ShareASale account and then look for Legacy Learning Systems and click on “Click to Apply.” |
Once you are approved, you will be able to access all campaigns and creatives (see examples below) and get your own number.
As soon as possible this week or next (by the way, next week is LEGACY WEEK 2.0 more information here on that) I will add a tutorial video about Pay Per Call to our ShareASale Video Tutorials section.
In the meantime, if you need any help, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here to help!
I look forward to working with you in this new, exciting way and to continuing to serve you!
