Broken Guitar Leads to Social Media Fame

Until this week, how many of you had ever heard of Dave Carroll or the Sons of Maxwell band?? How many of you had not heard of either until just now?

After this video, Mr. Carroll and his band are gaining incredible popularity and proving the power of Social Media.

So far, the story has been featured in the LA Times and various other media outlets (another here) and even has United Tweeting about it.? So far, it is another example of a social media phenomenon that is spreading like wildfire.? It will be interesting to see what becomes of it in the next few months.

The power of social media is truly awesome. If you have a product to sell, you can get the word out fast through various social media sites. Guitar products work quite well as there are many budding musicians out there who frequent these social media sites…like facebook, twitter, digg, stumbleupon etc.

Scott, musicians and comedians and other “up-and-coming”, low budget types have really set the trend for using social media. The big boys are starting to learn the lessons, but I believe most of us will always have a soft spot for guys like this, using Social Media to trigger at least their 15 minutes of fame.
