Long-Tail Keywords That Sell

Lynn Terry wrote an outstanding post recently that I want to share with you about using long-tail keywords that actually sell.

Really, this is one of the best posts in a long time on the subject of long-tail keywords because what I often read about is “how to rank high for long-tail keywords” but no one ever seems to discuss using the kind that make SALES, which is kind of the point after all.

As she points out, all long-tail keywords are not created equal.

So I strongly suggest checking out her full post here.

Using Long-Tail Keywords in your Link Building Strategy

Julie Joyce recently wrote a great post last week about using long-tail keywords as a part of your link building strategy.

In the post, she covers how to identify long-tail keywords, how to create landing pages for these keywords, and how to build the links.

There are so many reasons to target long-tail keywords.

First, they convert great.? Second, they are easy to get high in the rankings.? Third, they contain higher volume, harded to optimize keywords.? Fourth, they offer some variety in the anchor text pointing back to your site.

“Learn piano dvd lessons” is a lot easier to target than “piano lessons,” but guess what?? While targeting the long-tail, you are also targeting just “piano lessons,” since it is a part of the long-tail.

Having a variety of long-tail keywords (examples: “beginner video piano lessons,” “learning piano using video lessons,” “taking piano lessons at home,” etc.) will not only allow you to get high rankings on the long-tail, but give you a variety of anchor texts, which will lead to higher rankings for the base keywords: piano lessons.

Julie’s full post can be found here and is definitely worth a read!
